Peace

I just plain ran out of time (and mojo) for a PB&J video this week. (Seriously, if anyone has a way to add more hours into the day, please let me know!! LOL) But here's a peek at a card of mine that is being shared on the Penny Black blog today...

Craft Room Video Tour

I finally got around to making a video of my craft room.
Hope you enjoy! :)

*Edited to add: I've had several questions about the four side spinning cart in the video. I'm unable to point you in any specific direction on this item. I purchased it from my local scrapbook store when they were closing. It was a fixture in the store. Perhaps if you have a local store you could contact, they may be able to give some ideas where to purchase a similiar item.
*Edited to add: I've had a few questions about this drafting table. It was a fairly inexpensive purchase at my local Michaels store.

Mixed Media Mash Up

Okay, my friends, I can't tell you how excited I am to share today's post.  This was truly one of my favorite collaborations and it absolutely stretched me out of my comfort zone in creating.  You know when you first started stamping and you felt giddy as you made your first card? Well, that's how I felt as I created this project. :)

So without further ado, here we go!
Fellow Penny Black Designer  Elizabeth Allan and I have teamed up for a collaborative art challenge! We both share a love of stamping as well as mixed media collage art so it was only natural for us to combine the two in a “Mixed Media Mash Up”.

Before beginning, we decided to incorporate these five elements into our projects:

1. Focal point created with a rubber stamp.
2. Media Base: Wood Board (3/4" x 5 1/2" x 12")
3. Text paper from a book.
4. Texture created with stamping (We agreed to use at least these three sets-- Crystalline 30-018, Salutations 30-014, Pointille 3860J)
5. Penny Black Cardstock or Madison Designer Paper

Here are the details...

Mash Up Element One: Focal point created with a rubber stamp.
For my focal point, I used Penny Black 40-091 Victorian Homes illustrated by Mo Manning and 30-035 ...In a Pear Tree.

Mash Up Element Two: Media Base--Wood Board (3/4" x 5 1/2" x 12")
As opposed to a canvas, a wooden media base allows for easier stamping.  Plus, it's much more cost effective.  Thanks, dad, for cutting my board for me! :)

Shared Element Three: Text paper from a book.
I covered my board with text paper (nothing fancy, just pages torn out from an old novel) and I also used it for the doors of my houses.

_____________________
Shared Element Four: Texture created with stamping  (We agreed to use at least these three Penny Black sets-- Crystalline 30-018, Salutations 30-014, Pointille 3860J)
I also used Penny Black 40-139 A Flight of Thread as I love the textural pattern in this image.

Shared Element Five: Penny Black Cardstock or Madison Designer Paper
I wanted a little less detail to the houses so I cut rectangles from the polka dot Madison papers to cover bottom of the house images.  I also used Madison Designer Paper for the sun.

This project used so many different types of media including Mod Podge, gesso, acrylic paints, tons of Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft product, and Ranger archival black ink to name a few.  All stamps used are by Penny Black.

And now here's the really fun part!! Be sure to pop over to Elizabeth's blog by clicking HERE to see what she created using these same five elements.  It's so fun to see how different each of our projects turned out.  Here's a little peek at the magic Elizabeth worked on her Mixed Media Mash Up creation....

Spooktacular Tags *Day 3*

Here's a look at the third in this set of three Halloween tags:
I began by stamping 2253K Witchy Mouse using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I colored this image with Copics. I added distress ink to the background (Evergreen Bough). I stamped on the corners using Penny Black 40-152 Hoot of a Time and 4273K Winter Berries using Evergreen Bough and Memento Pistachio Ink.   Finally, I added ribbon and twine.
(For details on the other two tags, scroll down to my posts from earlier this week.)
Have a spooktacular day! :)

Spooktacular Tags *Day 2*

Here's a look at the second in my set of Halloween tags. (Scroll down to see the first post in this series.)
I began by stamping Penny Black 1528 J Kitty Witch using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I colored this image with Copics. I added distress ink to the background (Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade). I stamped on the corners using Penny Black 40-152 Hoot of a Time and 4273K Winter Berries using Memento Peanut Brittle Ink.  Finally, I added ribbon and twine.

See you tomorrow when I reveal the third and final tag in this set along with a look at the whole group together. Thanks for visiting!

Spooktacular Tags *Day 1*

This week I have another set of tags to share with you.  Here's a little peek at the entire set:
And a look at one of the tags:
I began by stamping Penny Black 4087J Back-Seat Witch using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I colored this image with Copics.  I added distress ink to the background (Dried Marigold, Fired Brick, and Festive Berries).  I stamped on the corners using Penny Black 40-152 Hoot of a Time and 4273K Winter Berries using Fired Brick and Memento Morroco Ink.  The sentiment, also from Penny Black 40-152 Hoot of a Time, was stamped using Versafine Onyx Black Ink.  Finally, I added ribbon, twine, and silver pearls.

HINT: When working on tags, I find it helpful to stamp my main image so it extends beyond the edge of the tag. Sometimes when you don't reveal the whole image, it actually has more impact.

Thanks for popping by!
See you soon with the full reveal of tag #2 in this set.
HUGS!

Christmas Tags

Lately I've been really enjoying making tags (I have another set of tags to share with you next week).  What I love to do is stamp a set, color them all, and then go back and add distressing and background stamping.  These were all colored with Copics.  When working this way, I can take my prestamped tags anywhere with my coloring medium and work on them, usually on a TV tray next to my hubby while he watches football! :)

Here are individual photos of each tag.

For more details on all of the Penny Black stamps used in creating these tags, please visit the Penny Black blog.
Happy Friday and have a great weekend!
