Penny Black Creative Dies and Inchie Arts

Today I have a small mixed media canvas to share with you that features both Inchie Arts Art Squares and Penny Black’s new Creative Dies!
IMG_0460
This canvas measures 5 x 7 inches.  I used several sizes of white Art Squares on this creation: 3 x 3 inch, ATC, Twinchie, and Inchie.  The Art Squares were first colored with Distress Paints and then stamped using a variety of Penny Black stamps.  Some stamps were inked using VersaFine Ink for a tone-on-tone look and some were stamped using Ranger Archival Black Ink.  The canvas was painted with Gesso and Distress Paints and then lightly stamped. Each Art Square was adhered to the canvas with pop dots.  Finally the Creative Dies images were cut from colored cardstock, distressed, and then added with pop dots.  The leaf dies were adhered with glossy accents and pop dots.  To finish things off, I added just a touch of Picket Fence Distress Paint to the edges of the Art Squares and the leaf dies.

Inchie Arts 3 x 3 Art Square

On Tuesday I created a card using a 3 x 3 Inch white Art Square from Inchie Arts and this sketch:

And I’m back today with another card using this same sketch and another 3 x 3 Inch white Art Square.
IMG_0721
I followed the following steps to create this mixed media look.
1.STAMP: Stamp flower (Penny Black) using VersaMark Ink.  Sprinkle with white embossing powder and heat to set.
2.COLOR:  Color both the flower and the background using Pan Pastels.  I used a variety of the Pan Pastel tools from the large sponges to the very small detail sponges to color the butterfly.
3.STAMP:  Add textural stamping (Penny Black) using Palette Ink in the color of Claret. Before stamping, remove some ink from the stamp using a baby wipe.
4.PAINT: Using Distress Paints, dab paint randomly onto the Art Square and on the edges.

Inchie Arts 3 x 3 Art Square

I’ve been playing with my Inchie Arts Art Squares and today I’ve combined a 3 x 3 inch white Art Square with Pan Pastels and Distress Paints for an artsy mixed media look.
IMG_0719
Here’s how I created this Art Square:
1.STAMP: Stamp butterfly (Penny Black) using VersaMark Ink.  Sprinkle with white embossing powder and heat to set.
2.COLOR:  Color both the butterfly and the background using Pan Pastels.  I used a variety of the Pan Pastel tools from the large sponges to the very small detail sponges to color the butterfly.
3.STENCIL: Lay a stencil (Our Crafters Workshop) directly over the Art Square.  Press a VersaMark Ink pad directly on top of the stencil applying it to the background area only, not the butterfly.  Apply another layer of Pan Pastel to the background using the same colors as before.  The stenciled areas will be darker.
4.STAMP:  Add textural script stamping (Penny Black) using black ink.
5.PAINT: Using Distress Paints, dab paint randomly onto the Art Square and on the edges.

I’ll be back on Thursday with another Inchie Arts card using this same sketch.

Pattern Paper and Stamping, Day 1

Lately I've been itching to do some paper piecing, something that's not typically my go-to technique. Sometimes, though, it just feels good to do something out of the ordinary. So... this week I'll be sharing a few cards created by combining some of my favorite pattern papers and stamps!

Fun Friday Collabo with Darlene

All throughout the month of May, on Fridays, Darlene and I collaborated using the same stamp to create each of our projects.  You can find all of the posts here:

Today we are super excited to feature a couple of uber -alented gals that played along!  I'm honored to share two cards by Larissa Heskett using Penny Black's T for Transparent Set Sweet Home.

On this first card, I love how Larissa layered vellum over her black and white stamping.  And with just one house colored, it really pops!  Her watercoloring is so bright and fun.
Home Is Where the Heart Is!!

And I was totally blown away by this next card of Larissa's.
Here's the front:
Home Heart!!
And the inside:
Inside of Home Heart Card!!
The paper piecing Larissa did to create this scene is adorable!

Thanks so much for playing along, Larissa. I'm totally honored to share your work here!
Now be sure to hop on over to Darlene's blog to see who she is featuring today.
Have a great weekend, my stamping friends!

Penny Black New Edition: Ornately Framed

I had sooo much fun making this card!  I began by stamping Penny Black 40-240 Ornately Framed onto white cardstock using Memento Expresso Truffle Ink.  I then added lots of layers of Gesso and Distress Paints (Antique Linen, Picket Fence, and Wild Honey) as well as some stamping with 1999L Letter Background using Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.

To finish things off, I stamped 4237K Awakening, after inking it first with Distress Paints (Wild Honey, Peeled Paint, Picked Raspberries, and Seedless Preserves).
