BLOG TAKEOVER- Day 2

Well, if you loved Sarah's blog takeover yesterday (and of course we all did!) then I'm sure you'll find Nancy's blogging just as delightful. Take it away, my sweet friend:

Hi there, it’s Nancy, trying out the director’s chair here at Inspired by…..
Who hasn’t been inspired and filled with amazement when visiting Jill’s fabulous blog? I’m sure you can imagine my delight to be here today as the guest blogger! So while Jill is knocking everyone’s socks off at CHA with her extraordinary talent, let’s get inspired.

Jill’s penchant for deep rich, saturated color always makes her cards standout from the rest….they are all such eye-candy! Her photo-stream is just one gorgeous card after another. It was difficult to choose just one card as my inspiration but this one captured my imagination; I love the Penny Black Music Background and of course the rich warm colors that are Jill's signature.

I decided to use all the same elements Jill used on her lovely creation; flower image, 2 butterflies, music background on a raised panel and of course those fabulous colors.

I started with the Music panel; I stamped PB Music Background with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on white cardstock (Neenah Solar White). I trimmed the panel and lightly covered it with Wild Honey Distress ink (I love this gorgeous warm color and use it a lot!) Then I went around the edge with Vintage Photo. This panel was layered with black cardstock.

For the background panel, Penny Black Paisley Outline was stamped using Antique Linen Distress ink on white cardstock. I blended more Antique Linen over the whole panel and used Vintage Photo to add some deep color and contrast around the edge. I mounted this to a white top-fold card base.

For the butterflies, I colored with a red Copic marker R27 on the Music Background scrap and punched them out with a Martha Stewart Butterfly punch.

The flower is from Hero Arts clear set Big and Small Flowers. I stamped the large flower 3 times with Tuxedo Black Memento ink then colored one with red, one with magenta, and the center of the third one with yellow. I used the stem with leaves from the same clear set. I used these Copic Markers for all of my coloring: R27, R46, RV17, Y15, Y19, Y38, YG05 and YG07.

My sentiment is a favorite SRM sticker added to white cardstock and layered with black cardstock. My only embellishment is a bit of black crochet thread tied in a bow around the music panel.

Thanks for joining me today; it is such a thrill to fill in for Jill today and even a greater joy to count her a friend. I hope you’ll visit my blog, Happy Heart Studio; I just may have a little blog candy for you! Blessings ~

Ooh, blog candy? Nancy, you are too sweet! Thanks for your beautiful card and post. I'm honored to call you friend, too!! And before I go, here's a peek at a set of cards I have over on the Mementos Blog. You can see individual pictures of each card and a photo tutorial HERE. http://www.ilovemementos.blogspot.com/

Sweet Nancy

Hello, my friends! I have a special post today about my sweet friend, Nancy. I have had the pleasure of meeting Nancy through the Hero Arts flickr group and I feel blessed to call her a friend. (Be sure to check out Nancy's BLOG and PHOTOSTREAM for more of her awesome creations!!) Well, the other night I was looking through the cards in the group and I came across this card of Nancy's:Is your jaw still on the floor?? Mine is! This card is one of my all-time favs! Nancy has done an incredible job coloring the flowers. I love the soft, sweet tones she has used. The touch of lace is PERFECT. I also love the way she has added the sentiment. Seriously, I just can't get over how pretty this is!!
So after seeing this card of Nancy's I was inspired to create this set for my next class at my LSS. All three cards feature Hero Arts stamps and Distress Inks.

Thanks for popping by! See you tomorrow with our next featured stamper!

Nancy - Day 6

Hi! Today is our last day of inspiration with Nancy and I know you will love her beautiful card:

The first thing that is so striking to me about this card are the colors! I love the combination of blues, browns, reds, and oranges. Nancy's beautiful arrangement of flowers and leaves creates a pretty focal point. The use of twine goes perfectly with the distressed patterned papers and is a fun way to attach the sentiment. I know we all would be thrilled to receive this birthday card!

Here is my take on Nancy's card. I am so sorry for the wonky picture--I think this is one of those cards that definitely looks much better in real life. (even if it arrives a couple of days after your birthday; right mom? *wink* *wink* oh wait, didn't we decide it was 363 days early for next year's bday?? )

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Nancy for allowing me to feature your cards on my blog. It has been a fun week! :) Thanks also to everyone who has stopped by!!

Nancy - Day 5

Welcome back! Here is Nancy's next inspiration card:

I love the sky blue colors with the pop of orange around the sentiment. And isn't Nancy's background the prettiest? She mixes different shades of blue with different images to create a beautiful, subtle collage! Finally, you know me and butterflies... :) Nancy's tone-on-tone butterfly is gorgeous!

Nancy - Day 4

Hi everyone! I just know you are going to love this card by Nancy:

Her three dimensional tree is out of this world! I love, love, love the way she intricately paper pieced the leaves of the tree. The punched cirles not only provide the fall colors of the leaves, but also add to the shape of the tree. And finally, the apples have great texture and colors! The touch of purple/burgandy looks so nice with the yellow background!

Here is my take on Nancy's innovative card. Nancy's card was so incredible that I was inspired to make two cards:

Nancy - Day 3

Hi! Hope everyone is having a great week--I am having so much fun sharing Nancy's cards! Here is Nancy's next inspiring ATC:

Nancy has such a knack for picking out the perfect sentiment go with her design. I love how she has repeated the her sentiment so that it becomes a part the background. Nancy has designed the perfect scene of grass, bright flowers, and blue skies! I love all of her little flowers which seem to overflow over a white picket fence. Finally, Nancy's flower scene really "pops" against the rich, black background.

Here is my take on Nancy's ATC:

I love so many things about this card, I'm not sure where to begin!! First of all I can't get enough of Nancy's bright red butterfly! I love the way she created a border using the circles with flowers on them. Nancy's color choices are unique. They create both a fun and elegant feeling for this card. Finally, all of the wonderful textures on this card add to its appeal!
