PB&J Video Tutorial, Christmas at Dusk

Before we begin today, I just wanted to mention that Peggy, my awesome friend who I featured last week, just started a blog this weekend! I'm so excited for her- you can check out her first post HERE.
Oh, and another sweet friend of mine that I met in class at Mementos, Connie, just started a blog- you can check hers out HERE.  Way to go girls-- I'm soooo excited to be able to see more and more of your creations!
This week's PB&J (Penny Black and Jill) video tutorial shows the creation of this set of Christmas cards using the new Penny Black sticker sheet, Christmas at Dusk:

Peggy *Day 4*

Our last inspiration card by Peggy is the definition of the word "masterpiece!"
Every time I look at this card I see a new detail I love!  The inked and stamped background has so many layers and such depth.  And Peggy's use of the birdcage stamp here is genius!
Here's my take.  I was especially inspired by Peggy's emboss resist text background and warm colors.

All stamps Penny Black/ Sentiment: SRM Sticker
Thanks sooooo much to Peggy for allowing me to share her awesome work! And thanks to all of you for stopping by and making us smile with your visits.

Here's a peek at what's happening on the Mementos Blog today.  (I am definitely on a butterfly/tag kick lately...)

Peggy *Day 3*

Today I have two cards of Peggy's to share.  Here's the first- I just had to share it because it's so darn cute and creative!

And this second card is also by Peggy.  It's my inspiration for my card today.

Hands down these are two of most precious Halloween cards I've seen yet.  Love every detail on each one.

Here's my take.  I was especially inspired by Peggy's golden background with the purple hat layered on top and with the fresh white on the sides.

Tag background created with Distress Stains (Wild Honey, Vintage Photo, Fired Brick).  I colored directly onto the tag with the stains and then spritzed with water.  Butterflies (Penny Black) stamped using Seedless Preserves Distress Ink. Butterfly centers are Candi Dots and sentiment is SRM sticker.

Thanks so much for visiting, my friends, and for all of your sweet comments and support.  I don't know if I say it enough- but it really means so much to me!

Oh, and I've got another purple and orange card over on the Mementos Blog.  Here's a peek:

Peggy *Day 2*

This next card by Peggy is one of my all-time favorite Pegster cards:
Peggy really is the queen of taking a technique and making it her own.  This emboss resist card on glossy cardstock just glows! And one of my favorite things about this card are the touches of black in the flower centers, on the sentiment, and with the twine.
Here's my take:

The background was created by distressing Tiara White cardstock with Crushed Olive and Black Soot Distress Ink.  The pierced holes were added using the Tim Holtz Ruler.  Next I stamped Penny Black Sundial with VersaMark ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  I then inked the flowers with the new Tim Holtz Seasonal Distress Ink, Seedless Preserves.  Finally, I used a black Stamper's Big Brush Marker from Faber-Castell to add the black accents to the flowers (dots and center line on petals).  This was so easy to do, especially coloring in that center line, because the Stamper's Big Brush Markers do not stain embossed areas but rather the embossing acts a resist.  So whenever I went out of the lines onto the embossing I just wiped it away with a baby wipe. :)  Sentiment by Penny Black ( 30-071 Mimi in Paris).

Oh, and I have a new video up on the Mementos blog today using lots of mediums and creating several fun backgrounds.  Here's a peek:

Thanks again for visiting - hope you have a wonderful day, my friends!

Inspired by...Peggy

Okay, I know I say this every week, but it's true! I am sooo excited to announce our new featured artist.  This week it is one of my good friends, Peggy, who's work I have admired for some time.  And I am one lucky gal, because Peggy is an "In Real Life" friend who I get to craft with face to face here in AZ.  Here is our first inspiration card by Peggy:
This card by Peggy is just so happy! And it's filled with lots of FAB details.  I love the way she has added the white behind the bird cage.  And how about that beautifully inked and stamped background background? LOVE it!
Now in keeping with the happy bird look, here's my take:

Yep, it's another canvas!  (don't worry, I'll have a card tomorrow- LOL)
*PHOTO TUTORIAL AVAILABLE FOR THIS PROJECT HERE*
I began by adhering patterned paper and tags to an 8 x 8 canvas using matte finish decoupage medium.  I colored with a blue metallic gelato around the edges of the paper and tags and then blended this using a baby wipe.  The birds are from my stash of chipboard (sorry, I don't know the manufactuer).  I colored them with a red gelato and then blended the color using a baby wipe.  Once dry, I stamped each bird using a purple Stamper's Big Brush Marker and Penny Black Paisley Outline.  The birds feathers/tails have Stardust Stickles and the edges are inked with Black Soot Distress Ink.  Finally, the sentiment is by SRM Stickers.

Thanks for popping in for a visit- I'll be back tomorrow with another GORGEOUS Peggy creation!

PB&J Canvas

For this week's PB&J video tutorial I created an 8 x 8 canvas using one of my favorite Penny Black collage stamps.  You can check out the video HERE.
See you tomorrow with our next featured artist- I love her work and can't wait to share it with you!
